Hello this is our
first post in this blog, we are going to talk about the history of hardcore
punk or often we call it “Hardcore”.
Hardcore or Hardcore
Punk is formed from punk music, so if we are talking about the history of
hardcore music, we can’t move away from the history of punk music. But, there
is a clear fact about hardcore music = Hardcore music is formed in America, not
Australia, or even Indonesia. Hardcore punk music is generally faster,
heavier, and more abrasive than regular punk rock. The origin of the name
"hardcore punk" is uncertain. A band called D.O.A. from Vancouver may
have helped to popularize the hardcore term with the title of their 1981 album,
Hardcore '81. A Hardcore
historian Steven Blush said that the name "hardcore" is also a
reference to the sense of being "fed up" with the existing punk and new
wave music. There many band who often called as the pioneer of this music
genre, like :
- S.O.A,
- Black Flag,
- The Germs,
- Teen Idles,
- Minor Threat, and many more.

Hardcore started to
popular in early 1980. As I said before, the bands above or many bands like
this is existed in 1997s. In 1980s. media called Black Flag’s music and Bad
brains’ as Hardcore and as we know, Hardcore connotes as porno (media saw many
sexual content in Black Flag’s album). Until in the middle of 1980s. is the
glorious moment for Hardcore where many bands started to exist in every corner
of the city. At that time, hardcore is something that is still fresh and new, and
that time was the time when Reagan’s reaganomic system is popular. Reagan is
the enemy of the liberals, minority, the lower class and hardcore. The effect
is, mane hardcore bands started to sing against Reagan. There are many hardcore
songs who is written to oppose Reagen, among them there songs from these band :
- Reagan Youth,
- D.O.A,
- Dead Kennedys.

The bands above is a
typical influence for the first generation of american hardcore, so few
American hardcore bands adapt the culture of british skinhead, because they
listen to musics from :
- Sham 69,
- Angelic Upstart,
- The Business.

That was the history
of hardcore music, now let’s talk about modern age hardcore. There are many
popular hardcore bands who are still using old school hardcore style like :
- Agnostic Front
